Frary Peak Hill Climb

October 18th, 2015

9:00 a.m.

Well, the first year for this race went pretty well, so let’s try it again and see if it can go better.  Basically you run up the Frary Peak Trail, touch the radio repeater near the summit, then run back down.  But there’s a little twist, it’ll be a time trial type start.  We’ll start 1-2 people every minute.  The reason for this is that first, it’s something a little different, and second, the trail is so narrow, that in order to accommodate 50-75 people, we have to do it this way.  Plus, there’ll be tourists and hikers on the trail and a huge herd of runners bearing down on them may scare them a bit.  Here’s a link to the route.

It’s just under a 10K and I guarantee that you won’t PR unless it’s your first 10K.

As usual, electronic only at  Registration should be open by June 1, just like the other fall races.  We’ll also try our hand at race day registration for this one.  It’ll be at the main gate and we’ll take cash, checks, or credit cards.  If you wait to register until race day, you may not get a race shirt, but that’s what you get for procrastinating.

State Park Waiver

You need to sign the state park. We’ll have it at race checkin and you can sign it there.

Aid stations

There aren’t any.  You run to the top, touch the radio repeater housing and run back down.  It’s less than six miles, don’t be a wimp.

What do you get?

Well, I do have a pretty cool logo that I’ll put on t-shirts.  I might be able to come up with some schwag, but don’t count on it.  Snacky foods and drinks when you finish.  If it’s a cold day, maybe we’ll have some hot chocolate.  You also get free access to the island for the day.

Yeah, this one could be a snowy one.  You know it’s going to be cool.  Plus it could be pretty windy up on top.  Dress accordingly.

Check in

At the main gate parking lot from about 7:00-8:30am the day of the race.  I’ll have day of race entry as well, but if you wait until the day of to register, you may not get one of those nifty cool shirts.  And they are nifty cool.

Hmmm, how about $36.74 if you sign up early.  How about $46.83 if you sign up late or an even $50.00 on race day.

There are no refunds for this race. Think long and hard before entering, but don’t think too long or hard, that’ll just give you a headache. This is a fairly small race so the margins are pretty thin.
